Hydrocarbon processing, power generation, and specialized service applications are just a few examples of the high-temperature process areas that benefit greatly from the HED/HED-DS Between Bearings Pumps. The performance of this class of pumps falls somewhere in the middle of that of single-stage HDX pumps and multistage, double-case pumps.

The first-stage impellers of these pumps can be configured with either one or two suction ports. They are more dependable and long-lasting because of their heavy-duty casings and staggered construction.

Satisfying the Needs of the Market

HED/HED-DS Between Bearings Pumps meet the standards set out by ISO 13709 and API 610 (BB2). In terms of design, the pumps are suitable for use in the hydrocarbon processing and power generation sectors. The following requirements are part of the specifications: bearing alternatives, material choices, centerline-mounted casing, mechanical seal chambers, nozzle loads and shaft run-out requirements under ISO 13709/API 610, and ISO 21049/API 682.

HED/HED-DS Between Bearings Pumps

When working with hot liquids, it is critical to use gasketing, which is a metal-to-metal fit that is completely confined and compressed under control, to ensure proper sealing and alignment.

For the most difficult applications, the ISO 21049/API 682 Seal Chamber can handle both pressurized and unpressurized cartridge seals. You have access to a complete set of seal flush plans that meet ISO 13709 and API 610 requirements. A pressure equalizing line is connected to the chamber on the discharge side to maintain consistent pressures in the seal chambers.

Class 600 Raised Face Flanges are ASME B16.5 compliant. The surface is smooth and meets the ISO 13709 and API 610 standards. Flanges of class 300 and 900 can be ordered if required.

Threaded dowels or locking pins are used to secure the wear rings on the impeller and regenerative casing. Wear rings are an inexpensive technique to improve the pump’s function and keep it running smoothly. Optional non-metallic wear rings come in a variety of exotic materials, including PEEK.

By carefully fitting the seal face, you can ensure easy maintenance and a long seal life.

  1. Internal flushing uses process fluid to cool the magnet and lubricate the sleeve bearings. Plans for external flushing are available upon request.
  2. Made of alloy C4, the leak-free containment shell has excellent corrosion resistance and efficiency performance. A zero-eddy current loss ceramic ZrO2 material containment shell is provided. Both types of containment shells are fully drainable and self-venting.
  3. Lubricated radial and thrust bearings made of silicon carbide (SiC) are mounted with tolerance fit to accommodate for expansion in high-temperature conditions. There are optional materials available to meet specific use requirements.
  4. Rare earth samarium-cobalt high-torque magnets are slip-free and resistant to high temperatures.
  5. In the event of a failure, backup regenerative rings made of non-sparking materials protect the containment shell and prevent fluid leaks.
  6. Consolidated hydraulic design uses the same casing and impeller as the well-known HPX API 610.
  7. The back pullout design simplifies maintenance because the motor and piping are not disturbed.
  8. Pump casing supported by centerslines may withstand nozzle loads exceeding API 685 design standards. The suction nozzle guiding vane reduces dependency on the NPSH margin by ensuring continuous flow into the impeller and therefore reducing inlet vortexing.
  9. A finely cast impeller’s dynamic balance contributes to vibration reduction and ensures smooth operation across a wide flow range.
  10. It is not exposed to the fluid and is secured with a set screw and a locknut.
  11. Renewable casing and impeller wear rings contribute to lower replacement parts costs. Wear rings are held together with set screws or tack welds.
