Discover the DuraCirc Aseptic Pump, designed for sanitary and hygienic applications in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.Alfa Laval DuraCirc Aseptic Pump Circumferential Piston

The Alfa Laval DuraCirc Aseptic Pump is an advanced circumferential piston pump (CPP) designed for aseptic applications in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries.

Built for high volumetric efficiency, superior hygiene, and robust performance, the DuraCirc pump balances durability, reliability, and easy maintenance. With a unique design that minimizes product contamination risks, it is EHEDG & 3-A certified, making it an industry-leading solution for aseptic processing.

Applications of the Alfa Laval DuraCirc Pump

The DuraCirc Aseptic Pump is ideal for industries requiring hygienic and high-pressure processing, including:

  1. Food & Beverage – Perfect for dairy, fruit juice, and beverage production.
  2. Pharmaceuticals – Designed for sterile processing and aseptic transfer.
  3. Personal Care & Cosmetics – Ideal for lotions, creams, and liquid soap production.
  4. Home & Industrial Chemicals – Handles high-viscosity, shear-sensitive fluids.
  5. Designed for Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) & Steam-In-Place (SIP)
  6. Optimized for low-viscosity liquids & aseptic environments

Key Benefits of the DuraCirc Pump

1. Supreme Performance & High Efficiency

  • Close pump head clearances maximize volumetric efficiency & process yield.
  • Supports medium to high discharge pressures, ensuring stable operation in demanding applications.
  • Advanced port and pump-head geometry significantly reduce cavitation risks, enhancing product integrity.

2. Superior Hygienic Design

  • Certified for EHEDG, 3-A, and FDA-compliant applications.
  • Profiled, FDA-compliant elastomers eliminate crevices and dead zones, preventing contamination.
  • All stainless-steel exterior for enhanced corrosion resistance & washdown protection.

3. Robust & Reliable Construction

  • Heavy-duty bearings reduce shaft movement, ensuring long-lasting durability.
  • Stainless steel gear case & duplex shafts provide rigid, vibration-free performance.
  • Optimized shaft seal location ensures extended service life.

4. Simplified Service & Maintenance

  • Front-loading mechanical seals allow quick, in-situ replacement without disassembling the pump.
  • Modular seal design enables easy conversion without re-machining or additional flush housings.
  • Uni-Fit Retrofit Port allows easy replacement of existing piston pumps from other brands.

The DuraCirc Pump construction features two rotors, housed within a pumping chamber, known as a rotorcase, with each rotor located on a shaft held rigidly within a gearcase. The two rotors are timed via timing gears in the gearcase, which along with shimming, ensures no rotor or rotor case contact. Rotor/shaft drive is typically provided via geared electric motor.

Due to the close internal running clearance within the pumping chamber, the rotation of the rotors continuously generates a partial vacuum in the suction port of the pump as the rotors unmesh. This results in a localized pressure drop, which allows fluid to enter the pump. The fluid is then transported around the channel by the rotor wings and the pressure generated as the rotor wings re-mash forces the fluid out of the discharge port of the pump.

Duracirc Pump Working principle

The rotor pistons rotate around the circumference of the channel in the Duracirc Pump casing. This continuously generates a partial vacuum at the suction port as the rotors unmesh, causing fluid to enter the pump. The fluid is transported around the channel by the rotor pistons, and is displaced as the rotor pistons re-mesh, generating pressure at the discharge port. The direction of the flow is reversible.

Comparison: DuraCirc vs. Traditional Circumferential Piston Pumps

Feature Alfa Laval DuraCirc Traditional CPP
Efficiency Higher volumetric efficiency Moderate efficiency
Hygienic Certification EHEDG, 3-A, FDA compliant Some may lack full certification
Maintenance Quick, front-loading seal replacement Requires disassembly for seal changes
Flexibility Uni-Fit Retrofit Port for easy upgrades Limited adaptability

Why Upgrade? The DuraCirc Pump is more hygienic, easier to maintain, and offers better efficiency than conventional CPPs.
