Energy efficient design

Our EnSaFoil impellers, as well as our particularly designed EnSaFerm impellers for fermentation applications, reduce energy usage and heat absorption by your product. Based on rigorous fluid dynamic studies, their distinctive design allows them to be up to 400% more efficient than regular pitch impellers. Aside from lowering energy loss, our impellers function at lower speeds without sacrificing pumping capacity. ATEX – option

Agitators can be delivered approved for use in an ATEX environment with declaration of conformity.

Dimensions

Standard propeller diameter range: ø125 mm to 1900 mm. Specific dimensions on the drive unit and propeller(s) will depend on the actual configuration selected.

Construction

Based on a modular design, Alfa Laval agitators consist of a drive unit with bearing frame, shaft with special shaft seal arrangement, and bi- or tri-lobe energy-saving airfoil impellers.

Operating principle

An electrical motor (drive unit) transfers the energy required for mixing and blending to the agitator shaft, either directly or through a gearbox. The shaft rotates, propelling the specifically designed Energy Saving Foil impellers. The impeller movement produces a high flow with little shear because of the extremely effective axial pumping impact on the liquid in the tank. This results in a thorough mixing and blending of the tank’s contents.

Alfa Laval also provides agitator types for sterile/aseptic applications, as well as optional equipment such as welding flanges, blind flanges, motor/gear covers, and spare part kits for its agitator line.
