The Alfa Laval Potentiometric level transmitter is designed specifically for small tanks containing highly viscous and pasty products, such as ketchup, honey and toothpaste.

All wetted parts are made of AISI 316L stainless steel and PEEK, and designed to withstand process temperatures between -20 and +140°C. Because these 3-A certifed transmitters can withstand high temperatures, they are well suited for use in Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) and Sterilization-in-Place (SIP) processes.

Ease of installation

The Alfa Laval Potentiometric level transmitters are easily mounted in top, bottom or angled position. Regardless of position, advanced integrated electronics enable automatic recognition of the transmitter output signal thus ensuring reading accuracy.

Operating principle

The Potentiometric level transmitter can be used with all media that have a conductivity of at least 50 ?S/cm. The low resistive measuring probe on the transmitter conducts a high frequency current through the medium in the tank.

The voltage applied between the probe and the tank wall is then measured. The output voltage is proportional to the tank filling level. The measurement is unaffected by temperature and adhesive media.

Working principle

The Alfa Laval potentiometric level transmitter utilizes the potentiometric measurement principle and can be used in all medias that have a minimum conductivity of 50 ?S/cm. From the low resistive measuring rod a high frequent current is fed through the medium to the tank wall. The voltage between the rod and the tank wall is measured. This output voltage is proportional to the tank filling level. The measurement is unaffected by temperature and adhesive media.

Electrical data

The integrated electronics features as standard automatic top or bottom mounting recognition, and LED´s for local readout of level. Adjustment of measuring range is done via two push buttons and LED‘s in field housing.
