Circpac™ Circumferential Barrier Seal

Flowserve’s CircPac HP is an engineered segmented circumferential gas seal for gas compressors with higher pressure capability than typical circumferential seals. Pressure balanced ring designs and hydrodynamic surface features provide low gas consumption and long life in a variety of ring configurations.

Flowserve Circpac is a segmentedcarbon ring barrier seal. The barrier seal is used in high speed centrifugal compressors to keep the bearing oil away from the gas seal. In high speed turbomachinery the oil in the bearing cavity becomes very turbulent. By providing a barrier gas flow to the mechanical seals, the velocity of the gas exiting the carbon ring towards the oil from contaminating the compressor gas seal.

Flowserve’s CircPac can also be used as a cost-effective ‘stand alone’ carbon ring seal. It can also be configured as a multiple carbon ring to be utilized in low pressure applications where the low leakage of a conventional gas seal is not required.

The seal optimizes design life by providing a clearance between the sleeve and the carbon bushings which eliminates wear and extends the lifecycle of the equipment. The design conceptualization compliments the non-contacting GASPAC compressor gas seal providing a long time of trouble-free performance. The CircPac has often been reused after seal inspection in a variety of applications.
