Thermometer

Alfa Laval thermometers are mechanical temperature gauges for use in dairy, food and beverage, personal care and biopharm production processes that require precise local indication of temperature.

Related Industries:

Food and beverage, Home and Personal care

Stable, accurate temperature measurement

Alfa Laval thermometers are sturdy mechanical temperature gauges that provide accurate measurement of local temperature for a broad range of hygienic processes. Temperature indication is easy to read on the 80 or 100 mm-diameter dial. A built-in bimetallic coil automatically compensates for any effect on the reading caused by changes of the ambient temperature.

Reliable thermometer design

Manufactured from robust, corrosion-resistant materials, these thermometers feature 304 stainless steel casing and a 316 stainless steel clamp connection and sensor tube.

Alfa Laval thermometers come as standard with liquid-filled housing. An inert gas that is completely neutral to the environment is used as the filling medium for the sensor tube, making the thermometers suitable for hygienic processes.

For more information, please refer to Documentation.

Operating principle

Alfa Laval thermometers measure temperature by means of the differential thermal expansion of the filling medium in the closed sensor. The change in pressure actuates the spiral spring, which drives the dial movement. A built-in bimetallic coil automatically compensates for the effect on the reading caused by change of the ambient temperature.

Options

  • Electropolished surface finish
  • Calibration-, 3A- and 3.1-certificate
  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration Declaration of Conformity
  • Bar, KPa, Psi scale

Application
The Alfa Laval thermometer is designed to fulfil the demands of local
temperature indication in sanitary and pharmaceutical production.
Main features are: Hygenic connection and robust design, high
resistance to corrosion, damp, vibrations and wear. Accurate and long
term measurement stability with quick response time. Due to their
first class accuracy and long term measurement stability, no yearly
calibration is needed. Available in two sizes.

Standard range
Our standard range comes with a liquid-filled housing. It includes an
80 or 100 mm diameter dial and built-in temperature compensator.
The housing is made of stainless steel (AISI 304) and the clamp
connection and sensor tube is made of stainless steel (AISI 316). As
an option, it can be delivered electropolished and with 3A, 3.1 or
calibration certificate.

dial movement. A built-in bimetallic coil compensates automatically
for the effect on the reading caused by change of the ambient
temperature. The filling media is an inert gas which is 100% neutral
to the environment. This makes the thermometer ideal for use in food
and pharmaceutical industries.

Alfa Laval Temperature Transmitter

Temperature transmitters provide accurate and reliable temperature measurement in hygienic and pharmaceutical production.

Related Industries:

Food and beverage, Home and Personal care

Fast, accurate temperature measurement

Alfa Laval temperature transmitters are compact hygienic measuring devices that provide accurate temperature measurement. Temperature transmitters cover a measuring range between -20 and 150 °C (-4°F and 302°F). The sensor tip design ensures fast response times and accurate measurements.

Hygienic temperature transmission

Compact in design, Alfa Laval temperature transmitters are authorized to carry the 3-A symbol and meet FDA and EHEDG standards.

Alfa Laval temperature transmitters feature stainless steel field housing with excellent surface finish, which make them suitable for use in hygienic applications. All wetted parts are made of AISI 316L stainless steel; as an option, wetted parts can be supplied with surfaces electropolished down to Ra>0.4. All process connections provide high cleanability and are tightly sealed to prevent entry of bacteria.

Product Benefits

  • Provide accurate temperature measurement
  • Hygienic temperature transmission
  • Stainless steel

Operating principle

The Alfa Laval temperature transmitter features a fast response PT100 sensor tip. The sensor element is as standard a DIN A sensor element with a 4-wire connection to the built-in transmitter. This ensures full resistance compensation and enables reliable and accurate measurements of process temperatures with a standard analog output of 4-20 mA. Accuracy typically ranges from ±0.25 °C to ±0.5 °C. A 4-20 mA HART® output or Profibus-PA interface is also available.
